UNITED TO BE POSITIVE AT KILMARNOCK

30th November 2001

Putting the disappointment of Tuesday's defeat at Hibernian to one side, United Manager looked ahead to tomorrow's SPL match with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. "We are back to League business on Saturday and are in a position to consolidate our top five position and to build on it. I'd rather we look up than down the league table and that we go to Kilmarnock in a positive frame of mind and put Tuesday's disappointment behind us."

Alex discussed the psychology of United's league position compared to this time last year. "The players have to realise that whilst it was acceptable to scramble to get points to get clear of relegation, we now need quality to take us to another level."

"We will be demanding from the players that we stay in the top five and to improve from there. I have consistently said that we have to keep making steady progress and I have no intention of looking back the way."

The manager outlined how difficult a match this would be for United. "We will go to Rugby Park with a very positive attitude in an attempt to bring back three points. It will not be easy. Kilmarnock have a sound team structure with a high level of organisation and it will take a first class performance to come away with a win."

The match kicks off at 3.00pm and admission is by pay-at-the-gate.
