ALJOFREE AND BUCHAN SET FOR DEBUTS

11th July 2000

Summer signings Hasney Aljofree and Jamie Buchan were both set for their first public appearances as United players as the team prepared to face Bohemians in the first game of the Irish on Tuesday night.

Former Bolton defender Aljofree and ex-Aberdeen midfielder Buchan were listed by boss Paul Sturrock in a starting line up that also included two of the three foreign trialists who flew out to Dublin with United on Monday. Also pencilled in were ex-Tangerine Grant Johnson and under-21 Jim Paterson for his first game since suffering a double fracture of his left leg in the SPL meeting with Aberdeen way back on November 6.

Late on Monday there was a late addition to the 20 man squad when a fourth foreign trialist flew to Dublin from London for a try out.
A decision on whether or not he would face Bohemians was being delayed until close to kick off, though like every other player in the party he will get an opportunity to show what he is capable of_Bray Wanderers and St Pat's will provide further opposition during the week away.
