SUMMARY OF CLUB AGM HELD ON FRIDAY 25 FEBRUARY

1st March 2022

The club’s Annual General Meeting was held at Tannadice on Friday 25 February 2022 and shareholders came along in good numbers to see Board members David Dorward MBE and James Fyffe re-elected to their positions alongside owners Mark and Scott Ogren.

At the top table for the event alongside Mark, David and James were the members of the executive team: Sporting Director Tony Asghar, Operations Director Luigi Capuano, Finance Director Derek Bond, and Communications Director Joe Rice. Academy Director Andy Goldie was unable to attend due to illness.

After introductions, Finance Director Derek Bond gave a overview of the financial accounts and the finalised accounts were voted through.

Directors David Dorward and James Fyffe both gave strong testimonies to the work being done by the executive team and praised the continued support of Mark and Scott Ogren towards the football company.

Following the completion of the formal proceedings, a question-and-answer session was then held in which questions of the following nature were answered:

Thomas Cairns (100 shares) expressed disappointment that DUBC had not received a promised response to a meeting held over five weeks ago relating to tours and museum. Luigi Capuano informed Mr Cairns that it was not unreasonable that such a time should elapse given the busy nature of ten games within the five-week period as well as a transfer window and day-to-day running of the club. An invite was again offered to the  DUBC to be part of tours and museum plans in the future.

Rab Lyons (100 shares) suggested the club should look to market for next season with football fans currently not interested in attending Tannadice.

Michael Barile (proxy on behalf of three other shareholders) asked questions relating to the Supporters Liaison Officers role and also the club plans around the Dundee United Supporters Group and election process. Communications Director Joe Rice gave a summary of the DUSG set up and election process with input from David Dorward and all questions were answered satisfactorily to those in attendance.

David Lowe (Federation of Dundee United Supporters Club) endorsed the role of the Supporters Liaison Officer in dealing with his organisation.

Michael Evans (Dundee United Supporters Foundation) made representation to acknowledge the club’s fulfilment of the promise to embark on a Gussie Park redevelopment project and stated that DUSF were delighted to part-fund the project. He asked the top table what they believed the aspirations for the project were. Sporting Director Tony Asghar reiterated the belief that Gussie Park should be the cornerstone of the club's ambition to build from within and hopes it will benefit for the club as a whole. Mark Ogren thanked DUSF for their continued support.

Gavin Muir (3 shares) asked whether the recently commissioned Deloitte’s review would bring any tangible benefits or outcomes. Mark Ogren suggested that some outcomes would make their way into the public soon.

Claire Leslie (120 Shares)  queried the price discrepancy between lower and upper tiers and Finance Director Derek Bond confirmed that had been reviewed ahead of the new season.

Ian Duff ( Personal Shareholder) asked about the club’s policy on drums at games. Luigi Capuano confirmed the club didn’t allow drums into the stadium but accepted that recently away fans had found a way to get them in the stadium. Upon police advice it was agreed not to confiscate during the events.

Norman McFarlane (100 shares) asked about the recruitment process and the part played by the Head Coach. Tony Asghar explained that numerous people are involved in the recruitment structure including himself, the Head Coach and the recruitment team and that the process and preparation begins several months before things become public.

Thomas Cairns (100 shares), while acknowledging that fans who pass away during the season are recognised before the end of the season at a home game, expressed his disappointment that a long term fan known to him didn’t get recognised on the club’s website.  Joe Rice gave a summary of the club’s policy on deceased fans but acknowledged that sometimes the club may look out with the policy if it is felt something requires special acknowledgement.

The meeting closed thereafter.

We hope this summary gives an insight into the workings and dealings of the event for those unable to attend and thank everyone who attended the AGM and conducted themselves in a courteous manner for their continued support.
