UNDER-21'S PERFORMANCE PLEASES COACH

20th November 2001

United Coach Paul Hegarty was satisfied with the performance of the Under-21's in the match against Motherwell last night.

The young Tangerines won 2-1 to extend their victorious sequence to four matches. "I thought our first half play was very good with excellent individual performances throughout the team. The players applied themselves and it showed with several chances created that should have won the match early on. As it was, the first goal was very well worked when Stef netted from 8 yards to put us on our way."

Paul felt that United went off the boil somewhat in the second half. "We lost our way a wee bit after the break. We overdid the intricate play and more of our passes went astray. Even at that, we had three reasonable opportunities in the second half to put the game beyond Motherwell".

In the end, the United Coach was happy with the overall performance. "I really have to be delighted with the attitude and application of the team throughout the match. We are on a roll and to have kept that going again last night has to be very pleasing."
