JAMIE MCGRATH AND SADAT ANAKU VISIT TAYSIDE DYNAMOS

2nd November 2022

First-team squad members Jamie McGrath and Sadat Anaku visited Tayside Dynamos at a recent training session - Scotland's most successful Powerchair football club.

After low engagement from the community, the club reached out to Dundee United Community Trust for a helping hand and Tayside Dynamos has doubled in size since the involvement of DUCT.

Three members of the Tayside Dynamos squad have plied their trade for the Scotland national Powerchair Football team, whilst the club as a whole has competed in a European friendly competition.

Tayside Dynamos began in 2013 after numerous open days and taster sessions, which were aided by Dundee United season ticket holder Liam Ritchie who now captains the team.

'Dream Come True'

Ryan Galloway, Tayside Dynamos' Club Secretary, expressed his delight with the involvement of our first-team players.

"The chance to meet and chat with professionals from the mainstream game and to play alongside them in Powerchairs was a dream come true for a few of our players this evening.

"It was clear to see that Jamie and Sadat took a genuine interest in the challenges faced by our players, as well as an absolute appreciation of the skill and talent required to play Powerchair football.

"It is a dynamic, fast-paced and exciting sport that remains the only team sport currently available in Scotland for Powerchair users.

"Not only does the sport teach Powerchair skills, but it also builds confidence and instills discipline and teamwork in players.

"As Scotland's most successful Powerchair Football Club we are delighted to build on our successful partnership with Dundee United Para Sports Club and tonight’s games just reinforced the commitment we have as a club to continue to provide opportunities for all Powerchair users across Tayside to experience this amazing sport.

"Our sessions currently run weekly at the Regional Performance Centre in Dundee on Wednesdays from 6-8pm."
