DUCT FESTIVE FRIENDS PROJECT

23rd December 2022

The Festive Period is always a busy time for the Community Trust - this Christmas, they deliver their widest support programme for the local community.

Alongside the support of the SPFL Trust, DUCT are helping to deliver the Festive Friends project - aiming to tackle food poverty, loneliness and isolation across communities.

DUCT have been providing Christmas meals and gifts to individuals at their homes over the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of December.

Members of our first team squad were delighted to be on hand - helping deliver parcels yesterday. Ryan Edwards, Ilmari Niskanen and Kieran Freeman were all involved in bringing joy to those who need it across the community.

Significantly, we are also opening the doors of Tannadice on Christmas Day - inviting individuals to enjoy some festive entertainment, a full three-course meal and some great company.

The project in its entirety reaches over 250 individuals in our community.

ArabTrust and the Stobswell Forum have also made gift contributions - which we are grateful for.

The pupils from Dens Road Primary also got involved, providing homemade Christmas cards which were included in our deliveries.

DUCT's Chief Executive, Jamie Kirk, said:

It's a real privilege for the Community Trust to be involved in these initiatives. As well as the projects already mentioned, we’ve had Christmas parties for the children’s section of our Para Sports Club as well as our adult football therapy group.

"Over the festive period, we need to do as much as we possibly can to showcase our support for members in the community who need it most.

"We couldn’t possibly do all this without the support of our selfless volunteers who give up their own time over the festive period to help us achieve our aims.

Looking ahead to January, the Community Trust will announce further details of their Winter Support Hub, funded by the SPFL Trust Winter Fund as they continue improving the lives of people in Dundee.
