MALPAS PRAISES UNDER-21'S

18th December 2001

The United Under-21's moved up to seventh in the SPL league table last night with a comprehensive 4-0 win at Tannadice over twelfth placed Dundee. Coach Maurice Malpas thought that United thoroughly deserved their victory. "It was a strange game. We totally dominated the first half but only had one goal to show for it. Then after half time, although we were still the better team, we did not play as well as we had done in the first period yet scored a further three goals."

Maurice singled out some special displays. "Combe, Wright and young David Winters were outstanding and we were happy that Miller (pictured), Hannah and Tommo all got 90 minutes to improve their fitness having missed the last few first team games."

The Young Tangerines now have a break until they play St Mirren in the New Year at Tannadice having already beaten the Paisley side 7-0 at Love Street earlier in the season.
