NEW BOARD IN PLACE AT DUNDEE UNITED

8th January 2002

Following an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held today (Tuesday, 8th January) a new Board of Directors has been appointed at Dundee United Football Club.

The new Board who together own 54% of the Club are Scott Carnegie, Chairman; Gibby Haggart, Vice Chairman and Directors Jim Barrie and Jim McLean. They were appointed after a vote at the EGM gave them over 55% of the shareholders' vote.

All members of the new Board have a long association with the Tannadice club. Scott Carnegie is the grandson of a former Chairman of Dundee United and his father Denys was also a Director of the Club in the 1950s. Gibby Haggart is the son-in-law of the late George Fox who was also a former Chairman of the Club. Jim Barrie is the son-in-law of Duncan Hutchison, another former Chairman of the Club. Jim McLean is another former Chairman of the Club and the most successful Manager in Dundee United's history.

Scott Carnegie, the new Chairman of Dundee United said, "For several months we have been concerned at the financial direction the Club is going in and we felt that it was no longer appropriate to stand by and allow this to happen. I will stress again, however, that these concerns are not aimed at the coaching staff or any on field activities. The Manager and his Coaching staff have our full support.

"As we have consistently said we are a Board for change. Our aim is to be a short term Board concentrating on finding a buyer for our shares and therefore the Club with that individual bringing further business and financial expertise into Dundee United ensuring its future going forward."
