KAI FOTHERINGHAM NAMED CINCH CHAMPIONSHIP PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER AS THE TERRORS SECURE AWARD DOUBLE-SWOOP

9th November 2023

Dundee United are delighted to reveal Kai Fotheringham has been named the cinch Championship Player of the Month, as the Terrors secure a double-swoop of October's individual accolades for the second tier.

Fotheringham has enjoyed a rich vein of form throughout the month, finding the back of the net three times. So far this season, 26% of our 31 league goals have either been scored or set up by the Academy graduate.

His defining moments of October came at the Excelsior Stadium, as he netted both of the Terrors' goals in a 2-0 victory over Airdrieonians to consolidate our place at the summit of the table.

Only one other player aged under 30 has outscored the winger in the second tier this term, whilst he also ranks in the division’s top five for key passes per 90 minutes and dribble success percentage.

"A SPECIAL MOMENT"

After accepting an individual award for the first time in his senior career, Fotheringham expressed his delight, commenting: "It’s a special moment for me, but as much as it’s an individual award I wouldn’t have been able to do it without my teammates and the backroom staff.

“It’s an award I’ve always wanted to win, even when I was on loan - it shows my consistency throughout the month but I need to keep working hard.”

Jim Goodwin, named the Championship's Manager of the Month, added: "I’m delighted for Kai, he’s had a really good season so far with lots of goal contributions. Not only is he scoring himself but he has played a big role in the goals we've scored with good assists."
