COMBE GOES TO BRADFORD ON LOAN

1st February 2002

United keeper Alan Combe has joined up at Bradford City on loan until the end of the current season. Combe, signed from St Mirren by former manager Tommy McLean, has been unable to regain a first team slot since Paul Gallacher took over as first choice in the middle of the 2000-2001 campaign.

United Manager Alex Smith said "this arrangement will work on a number of levels. Firstly, it provides Alan with top team action once again. Secondly, it provides Bradford or any other club with an opportunity to seeing what he can do."

Edinburgh-born Combe joined United in June 1998 and prior to signing up at Tannadice, he had played for St Mirren who, in turn, had signed the 27-year-old from Cowdenbeath.

Alan has had no first team action this campaign but has played a total of 79 matches for United. He had been the regular stand-by on the bench before his move to Yorkshire.
