SECOND HALF CHANGES MADE THE DIFFERENCE

5th February 2002

Safely through to the Quarter-Finals of the Tennenet's Scottish Cup, albeit with the aid of a four goal surge in the final eight minutes, Alex Smith was extremely pleased to get through. "I am very happy with the result. In the first half, we continued where we had left off against Kilmarnock and played very poorly and most of the credit in the first forty five has to go to Hamilton. In the second half we made some changes with Carson, Thompson and Winters all coming on and this allowed Charlie to get forward and create a few more chances. 4-0 was an extremely flattering scoreline for us. Our first goal TOOK away the edge from them, coming as it did so late in the match. Now that we are in the next stage, we have a very difficult tie ahead of us with Ayr United to overcome if we are to reach the semi-finals again."
