DUNDEE UNITED 0 RANGERS 1

3rd March 2002

A 68th minute penalty by Rangers gave today's visitors to Tannadice a narrow victory and this single goal reverse severely dents United's chances of making the top six cut-off.

It was a game of few clear-cut chances but it was one which United will feel deserved a better points return. The defence, with Paul Gallacher (pictured) outstanding, was difficult to breach and the midfield worked hard and effectively throughout. Up front there was greater pressure placed on the Rangers defence in the second half, with Charlie Miller prominent, but scoring opportunities proved very scarce and the deadlock was only broken half-way through the second half when Craig Easton tripped Russell Latapy in the box and the spot kick was converted by Rangers captain Amoruso.
