UNDER 21'S LOSE 2-3 AT HOME TO DUNFERMLINE

4th March 2002

United fielded a more inexperienced side than of late for their
Under-21 match this evening against visitors Dunfermline and paid the price by losing 2-3.

Out were some of the first team squad who had featured in recent weeks with players from the Under-18 team making up part of the side.

Ronnie O'Brien opened the scoring with a superb 30 yard shot that flew past keeper Scott Thomson after 25 minutes. The young Tangerines relinquished their advantage just five minutes later when Potter equalised for the East End Park side.

All square at the break, N'Diayne put Dunfermline ahead after the interval with a 47th minute goal. That lead was also short lived as McConalogue (pictured) made it 2-2 with a header from an O'Donnell corner less than ten minutes later. Nish hit the winner for Jimmy Calderwood's side in the 73rd minute and although United possibly deserved better, they couldn't find another goal and lost the match.
