TOMMO TOP SCORER

15th May 2002

The season is over, the records books are being updated and season 2001-2002 has been a very special one for United striker Steven Thompson.

Twenty-three-year-old Tommo not only won his first international cap when he came on as a substitute in the match against France earlier this year but he followed that up with a starting berth in the recent friendly against Nigeria at Pittodrie. He now finds himself in the Scottish party that is playing matches in the Far East and is well poised to add to his total of international honours during this tour.

Tommo has also won the top scorer award for the campaign with ten goals in total, four in Cup competitions and six in the SPL. He won the Tangerine marksman title with something to spare finishing four goals ahead of a clutch of rivals in second place. Having made 26 starts and 12 appearances as substitute, he has had his most productive campaign ever and looks set to build on his achievements in the forthcoming season.
