UNDER-18s GO WEST

3rd May 2002

Early this morning, the U-18s were setting off for their last fixture this season versus Kilmarnock. In a pre-match interview, Youth Team Manager Paul Hegarty stated: "It has been a mixed season with a lot of light and a bit of shadow here and there too. We have seen some outstanding football and some performances short of what we expected. But the feeling is one of delight at the overall development of the players. And we are especially excited about the fact that several youth players have progressed right through to the first team within one season, and of course I am referring to O'Donnell, Wilson and Ogunmade. We are looking forward to our final match today and hopefully can conclude this season on a high note."

United are currently in 8th position, but a win today versus 10th ranked Kilmarnock could mean moving up as high as 5th place.
