Dev League: Dunfermline 2 United 5

26th January 2016

It was a comfortable win in the end for the Tannadice side thanks to two late goals that gave them the margin of victory their superiority merited at a wind-swept Ainslie Park. By Peter Rundo With two goals in the opening three minutes, the Tangerines threatened a runaway victory. First Jordan Orru deflected a Jamie Robson cross into his own net and less than a minute later Henri Anier drilled a shot in off the underside of the bar from just outside the box. However, the Pars pulled one back through debutant Evan Horne as he stroked home a cross from the right to net against his previous club. Right on half time though, United regained their two goal advantage with Brad Smith crashing home a wind-assisted first timer from 30 yards. Horne again proved a thorn in the flesh of his former team mates setting up Paul Joseph Crossan to reduce the deficit two minutes after the restart. Playing better against the elements, United went on to dominate proceedings and got a deserved fourth with another cracking Anier effort, firing into the top corner with a shot on the turn from 20 yards. Although reduced to ten men with substitute Scott Allardice’s dismissal, the visitors added a fifth with five minutes left, Fifers’ sub Paul Allan turning a Darko Bodul free-kick into his own net.
