Dev League: Dundee United 1 Hibernian 3

3rd March 2016

In the first Development League game to be played at the GA Arena, Dave Bowman's side fell to a 3 - 1 defeat. By Peter Rundo Both sides went at it hammer and tongs from the first whistle with Josh Peters almost counting for Hibs with less than three minutes played, but his diving header flashed just past the post. United’s Aaron Murrell had an effort saved and then headed just over before the tenth minute mark. But it was Hibs who struck first with Peters side-footing home an Olly Shaw cross. On 25 minutes the Tangerines were level after Matty Smith latched on to Brad Smith’s through ball to score with a low drive from an acute angle. Unfortunately for United, the visitors were back in front eight minutes later when Shaw set up Jordan Sinclair to somehow squeeze the ball in at the near post. Chances continued to come and go at both ends after the break. United were coming close to levelling after 75 minutes when Tumilty was through on goal and his effort was blocked, only for Aaron Duke to see his shot from the rebound tipped just over. To add salt in home wounds, Hibs scored a third two minutes later when Peters headed home an Aaron Dunsmore cross to seal victory.
