ANDY GOLDIE TO JOIN SWANSEA CITY

22nd July 2022

Dundee United can confirm Academy Director Andy Goldie is leaving the club to take up a new role at English Championship side Swansea City.

Goldie will move to the English Championship side next month with the club’s best wishes after implementing Dundee United’s strategic vision to significantly grow our Academy over the last three years.

An impressive 16 Academy graduates featured for United first team last term, with Ross Graham, Kieran Freeman and Archie Meekison all earning Scotland under-21 call-ups.

United Sporting Director Tony Asghar said: “We’d like to place on record our gratitude towards Andy Goldie for his work over the last three years.

“As a club we created a clear strategic plan to grow and develop our academy, players and staff through Andy’s implementation of this plan, we saw the fruits of our labour last year.

“No fewer than 16 Academy graduates made the first team and a number were rewarded with international recognition.

“We firmly believe the strategy and structure we are continuing to develop within the Academy will enable to Dundee United to enjoy future success.”

Andy Goldie added: “I’m hugely grateful to Dundee United for everything they have done for me personally.

“By me moving on, it doesn’t effect anything in this academy.

“It will still be the crown jewel of this club and whoever comes in will be able to take it to another level again.

“That’s a great credit not only to the Academy staff but to the Chairman Mark Ogren who has really backed us.

“He has put the academy front and centre of the club’s strategy.

“I’ve had tremendous backing from the Sporting Director Tony Asghar too.

“He has given me the autonomy and the support to develop an academy that the club, players, parents and fans can be proud of.

“It’s an exciting opportunity at Swansea City that I’ve accepted to become their new Academy Manager.

“It’s a big commitment but is the right opportunity, at the right time for me to move onto the next step of my own career.”
